Panama

I lived and worked on the Panama Canal for 25 years, which served as home base for many of my adventures. One of my favorite pastimes was spending time in the Darien Jungle, where many of my projects were inspired.

The Liki Tiki Project

My goal with this project was to discover how the Polynesian's populated the islands of the Pacific Ocean, from Hawaii to New Zealand, 2,000 years ago. The first boat, Liki Tiki, was designed after Captain Cook's drawings of double hull boats. The belief is that these were ocean cruising boats. Three days at sea, I realized the double hull theory is wrong. I succeed with Liki Tiki Too, a single hull with outriggers.
